Sponsored Athletes

It is with great pleasure that the Board of the San Francisco Triathlon Club announces the selection of the 2004 San Francisco Triathlon Club Sponsored Athletes. The following members were chosen from a group of very competitive, committed and supportive triathletes. The decisions were difficult, but in the end, the Board chose those two athletes who we believe best exemplify the SF Tri Club spirit of caring, support, team-work, and dedication. Each one has confirmed an intention to give back to the club and triathlon community through work-shops, mentoring, community programs and other valuable contributions

Here are the team members - look for them sporting the Pure Energy logo on a race podium near you:

Loren Siebert: Loren was one of the first SFTriClub members and has become a strong competitor in Olympic distance races including placing 2nd in his age group last year at Alcatraz and 6th overall for amateurs.  His podium finishes in all of his 2003 races helped earn him All-American status; and he has started off his 2004 season with two overall age-group wins. Loren works as an independent software consultant.

Clinics

Throughout the season, I'll be leading open-water swim clincs at Aquatic Park to help club members work on swimming technique, sighting, drafting, and transitions. The specifics of each session will be based on the ability levels of the participants. Most of the time, I plan on hopping in with everyone to give feedback during the swim. Afterwards, I will be around to answer any questions about open water swimming or triathlon in general.

Frank Keane: Frank comes primarily from a running background, and started racing triathlons 8 seasons ago while living in Atlanta. He favors longer course racing, and has competed at the ITU Long Course World Championships the past 2 years at Nice, France and Ibiza, Spain. In addition, Frank earned USA Triathlon All-American status in '01 and '02 while competing in various distance races across the US. He is scheduled to compete in his 3rd Ironman distance race June 27 at Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. He and his wife Maggie are expecting their first child mid-August.

Look for Frank to be leading many running clinics this year.
