- What is a PEP?
PEP, pronounced "pep", stands for Pure Energy Person.
PEPs is the plural and stands for Pure Energy People.
This phrase was first coined by co-founder Lex Grecu
in an early club email and quickly adopted by all
members.
- What does "Pure Energy" mean?
Why is our motto "Pure Energy?" The Pure Energy Motto
was born only a week before the birth of our club when
co-founder and 2002 Club President Lex Grecu coerced
his former roommate, design-guru Terry Lin (2003 Club
President), into designing our club logo in exchange
for cat-sitting services. Lex had the idea of an atom
as our logo and presented Terry with a laughable
picture drawn on a napkin with a pen (isn't this the
way all cool things begin?!). After promptly
shredding, burning and then burying ashes of Lex's
artwork, Terry asked "What the hell was that?" Lex
answered "Well, I wanted our logo to convey that we
are a club for positive people. I want people to know
that we are a club full of amazing energy...so the
atom was about energy." Terry gave Lex the look that
most only receive from the IT guy at work, erased the
original blue and gold team colors from his mind and
kicked out the now famous SF Tri Club Logo with our
trademark green and black and one simple phrase to
capture our essense, "Pure Energy."
- Can I try a workout before I join?
Yes! You get the first session of track free
(a $10 non-member value) and can come to a
weekend bike ride and/or a long run.
