What people are saying about SF Tri Club Spinning

"Edith's spin classes have undoubtedly made me a better, more efficient cyclist. Accompanied by top-notch, heart-thumping music and motivational words, Edith's classes are a super-fun way to get in a great workout, improve cycling technique, and meet lots of other SF Tri Club members. If you want to be a better cyclist and triathlete, you need to sign up for this class. Plus, it's one of the few places that you can feel comfortable wearing spandex when you're not on a real bicycle!"
- Dave Rolnitzky (D.R.)

I’ve done “regular” fitness club spinning for 7 years where the goal is more or less to get sweaty and feel tired by the end of an hour session of jumps, sprints and other tricks. Those goals are far from carefully developing cycling skills and improving fitness for a triathlon race, which is what Edith’s classes are all about.
Without much outdoor cycling at all, I timed the fastest amateur bike split at 2.13 at Vineman Half Ironman in 2007, beating the top Pros as well. Edith’s 1.5h/week workouts were time very well spent for me! Thank you.
- Sami Inkinen (9hr25min at 2007 Kona IM World Championship, a blazing fast 4hr49min bike split!)

"this class rocks!!! without a doubt, it has helped my cycling technique and confidence! i feel stronger on hills, more efficient on flats and better on the same rides that i did before taking this class. i've also learned how to train smart instead of just training without direction...using heartrate zones, doing intervals, it's all been so helpful! add to that the energy that everyone in the class brings every thursday night and the positive energy and excitement of the instructor, it's well worth every penny. "
- Karen Skillin

"Edith's classes have had an incredible impact on my biking. She spends tons of time on form and technique, backed by her super PEPiness and smacktastic music. My cycling technique, speed, and endurance have totally blossomed under her tutelage. For those of you that have never really taken heart rate training seriously before, she'll show you how to do it, and you will be amazed at the results!"
- Maura Hanlon

"Spin class has brought to me a new perspective on bike training. At first I thought the best way to improve your cycling was to ride the streets as much as possible. After taking Edith's class I realize that, like running at the track, spin emphasizes a quality-over-quantity workout which greatly improved my conditioning."

Program Description

SF Tri Club is pleased to provide the most fun, effective, and inexpensive Tri-Specific Spinning program around!

The program is coached by SFTriClub's own Spinning Instructor, Edith Chan. Currently pursuing a PhD in Integrative Medicine, Edith is a Licensed Acupuncturist, Herbalist, and Bodywork Therapist specializing in Holistic Sports Medicine. Her athletic accomplishments include numerous podium-stands at local races, Inside Triathlon All-American 2001-2, and competing on TeamUSA for World Championships in 1999, 2001-4. Prior to multisport, she trained under Olympian coaches as an NCAA Division I rower at Harvard & Radcliffe. By combining her professional knowledge in Sports Medicine with over a decade's triathlon race experience, Edith provides SFTriClub athletes with the most well-rounded, fun, and effective approach to cycling training!

Besides a methodical training program that prepares athletes for peak performance at popular races, the class also provides a well-rounded overview of multisport topics. These include cycling technique, gearing & cadence, race strategies, mind training, injury prevention/management, hydration & nutrition, breathing, etc. These important concepts are taught in a logical and organized manner. Handouts are given to enhance each athlete's knowledge. Cycling technique is taught systematically and finetuned throughout the series so that athletes can fully leverage their skills on race day. With regular attendance, this class WILL produce dramatic improvements in your cycling!
